TEST
Your doctor can order toxic metal panels. Urine & stool tests can also be ordered directly through companies such as Walk-In-Lab or DirectLabs. In 2018, a Berkeley study showed "...that while the urinary metabolism is responsible for the initial clearance of Gd, over time the remaining metal is cleared through solid waste" So *a fecal test may be more useful the longer it has been since your last GBCA* Nail & hair testing is also available via Micro Trace Minerals. |

Please research thoroughly before starting any kind of treatment as you may risk making symptoms worse, redistributing the Gd, or overloading already burdened detox pathways.
It is also worth noting that Micro Trace Minerals, who specializes in toxic metal testing, found that none of the currently available chelators are effective at removing Gd (see their study here).
Could be why there isn't one clear solution- we're not exactly sure what Gd species we are trying to remove.

Just as the proclamation initiated and rumored by the pharmaceutical companies that "macrocyclics are safer than linears" could very well be heading us down a more dangerous contrast pathway, it is my belief Gd level test results are only a number and not indicative to amounts retained. Those who test low may be unfairly and inaccurately discriminated and their symptoms set aside as "not enough toxin to be worried about", when they may be sicker than those who are actually retaining and/or excreting more toxin. -Deborah Carter
